The applying organization of the project is the Institute of Chemical Engineering at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IChE-BAS).

IChE-BAS is the principal national research and educational centre for chemical engineering and bioengineering sciences. IChE-BAS includes three research laboratories - Process Systems Engineering, Transfer Processes in Liquid Media and Chemical and Biochemical Reactors.

Both, fundamental and applied researches are carried out in IChE-BAS. They are related with development of sustainable technologies; new and improvement of existing processes and equipment; efficient using and reusing of the internal energy resources of the production systems; developing methodologies, equipment and technologies for replacing the non-renewable raw materials and energy resources with renewable bio-resources and other renewable natural resources, etc. Its mission is to contribute to sustainable development of the country through its scientific methodologies, scientific expertise and extensive experience in scientific and applied research in the fields of chemical technology and industrial biotechnology. This mission is in line with the priority areas of the EU's Horizon 2020 Framework Program for Research and Innovation, the new "Smart Growth Research" Operational Program and the National Strategy for the Development of Research 2020.

The scientific results of IChE-BAS are well known both nationally and internationally. IChE-BAS has many years of experience in training PhD students, graduates and students.
